Bulky Buffet

So we get back to our room a little past 9 p.m. We’re both hungry. I decide to go outside and download photos to the iBook and update the website. By update the website I mean that I maintain a Word document and link photos while offline.

While I’m downloading photos and writing, Elise is in the bathroom, taking a shower and painting her toenails with a polish we bought here in Mexico and was mixed with what seems to be horse innards and whatever else the locals found in Debbie Gibsons’ Kit ‘n Kaboodle.

I left my comfy spot on the patio, walked inside and declared that I was hungry. I suggested that we walk down to the pool and try the tortilla soup at Cilantros. Elise thought that was a good idea.

We walked down to the pool and made our way to Cilantros. Elise said, “Maybe we should try the restaurant next door at the Rose’”.

I said, “Okay, but don’t you want to try the tortilla soup at Cilantros?”

“No, let’s go next door.”

So we went next door. The food was excellent and if I wasn’t married, I would forever be loyal to none other than a giant chunk of cotija cheese. It’s the perfect pungent Mexican cheese that I could easily find myself putting in many a recipe.

We had gigantic pork tamales, stewed fish in a rojo sauce, chicken with a mole sauce that was excellent, just to name a few. Elise had a Mexican coffee that could very easily turn me into a coffee drinker.

The food was fantastic. Keep in mind that it was 10:30 p.m. I thought we caught the tail-end of a resort buffet that might set us back a few pesos. After our late night indulgence we received the bill. $910 pesos. Simple Mexican to American currency conversion: $0.10 USD = $1.00 Pesos. $91 USD for our late night buffet.

I’m picking the restaurants from now on.

To revisit the updating the website part… I’m limited to an Internet ‘café’ which is located next door at the Rose. It costs $50 pesos for up to 15 minutes. I have to upload photos and copy and paste my entries from Word to the website, attempt to proof and post during that allotted time.
